It's a first step in the off-road history of Segway Powersports. The importing company Delta Mics has its two basic elements, namely the AT6 L and the AT6 S, which we will find in a future issue. These two thermal models of 44 horsepower precede the arrival of the hybrid version of this same quad, which will land in a few weeks on the French market. It is with some impatience that we await this variation, as it constitutes a revolution on the market, but it is with curiosity that we took control of this first two-seater thermal model of the brand. What strikes the mind at first sight is the refined aesthetics of this quad, with its plush appearance. We immediately perceive the care taken in the design of this vehicle. We know the quality of Segway-type products manufactured by the Segway company. The all-terrain component has obviously been well studied. As we will see, the engineers have spent many hours on the dynamic behavior, so that it is at this point of efficiency, while this is only a pre-production version. Moreover, a few details were missing to adjust, whether it's the trim on the handlebars, the ergonomics of the stalks and the sticker kit. Exit the registration 600 GL Snarler for a new denomination AT6 L for this version. But the first impression is clearly positive. The quality of finish is at the level of the best, with precise adjustments, materials that inspire solidity and are part of the current trend with full LED lighting of the most beautiful effect. We find the LED signature at the front and at the rear of the quad, in position lights, headlight and indicators, with an assembly with an assertive design. Available in two colors, this white/red/black model uses the basic Segway colors for off-road recreational products.

The good idea is to have affixed the red tint to the front bumper, the step reinforcements, the shock absorbers and the protection of the honeycomb grille. The high-placed mudguards and the wide grille give an impression of power and impose This all the more so since the AT6 L has 14-inch wheels, while the AT6 S (short model) is equipped with 12-inch wheels. The long version has a nice look and the driving position is perfect, with a straight back and fairly raised handlebars. In front of the knees, the bodywork has been hollowed out, so as to promote space for the legs and provide additional comfort in the event of sporty driving.

In terms of dimensions, the two-seater Snarler is in the standards of the genre, with 2.3 m long, 1.25 m wide, 1.54 m high. As standard, this model is particularly well equipped, with power steering adjustable to 4 levels and which can be completely neutralized, beadlock aluminum rims associated with 14-inch Wanda tires, EBS type engine brake, USB socket and another lighter. cigars, front and rear luggage racks capable of supporting 120 kilos of goods, hand protectors, a rear backrest with integrated grab handles. But it's the Smart Moving application that makes an impression with the possibility of connecting your smartphone to the machine. It is thus possible to send, thanks to the application to be downloaded on the telephone, a remote blocking, to intervene on the driving parameters, emergency contact and geolocation, to watch the data in real time (see box for more details). At the mechanical level, the AT6 L has a heat engine. It is a Bosch-injected 570cc single-cylinder developing 44 horsepower (34 kW). The transmission is provided by a CVtech variator, while another model is found on the single-seater version, that of the two-seater being more stressed because of the weight. Damping is provided by independent suspensions with good travel (18 cm at the front and 21 cm at the rear). The ATOL version has rebound and compression adjustable shock absorbers. This is not the case of the single-seater model, which will be equipped with steel rims and conventional shock absorbers. On (ATG L, there is a good ground clearance of 270 mm, in order to have a certain margin of maneuver in uneven areas. A 4x4 model, the Snarler AT6 L has two differentials, namely an automatic locking front and a switchable rear differential.

We had been hearing about the arrival of Segway Powersports quads and SSVs for several weeks. Some had even doubted that they could one day arrive in France and be distributed. Inevitably, we were impatiently awaiting the first laps of these creations from the Sino-American manufacturer. We had the first of this test in France and it is clear that we did not expect that. Having already ridden with all the models of quads available in France, we have well-established benchmarks and being able to discover a new model is always a special moment. The first impression was clearly good when taking the controls of this quad. We were just struck from the start by the rather large turning radius. We did not know at the time that it would be one of the only small shadows on the board.

For the rest, the Snarler has shown us over the kilometers its full potential. First strong point is the engine, a single cylinder certainly, but full at all speeds, torque to perfection and capable of maintaining a good pace. With its 44 horsepower, it does almost as well as the Can-Am Outlander Max 570 and its 48 horsepower. The engine is surprisingly vital and doesn't seem to be ashamed of the benchmarks in the segment, even if that requires confirmation, the twin-cylinder of the Outlander Max 570 may have a little something extra. On the steep climbs that we are used to taking on the side of Vincelles (89), this Snarler has demonstrated all its responsiveness. Beyond its superb aesthetics, its quality of finish, this AT6 L clearly brings something. And to say that it's only about a pre-production version... But the base is sound and the performance clearly lives up to our expectations. The chassis is sound and the suspension works wonderfully. It provides comfort and the dynamic behavior is really good. If the saddle seems a little firm, the work of the gas shock absorbers compensates and ensures a good softness. One can clearly envisage long-distance hikes without any problem. Just in the intensive rolling phase, the inner front wheel tends to lift a little, like what can be found on a Polaris Sportsman 570 or Arctic Cat Alterra (no longer imported in France). But the playful side is there and whether you're thinking of leisurely hiking or attacking, there's plenty to have fun at the controls. L' application with the smartphone may appear as a gadget at first but participates in the adventure, since it allows you to keep an eye on your track, your personal data, your navigation, to adjust many parameters such as power steering. It's modern and we wouldn't be surprised if it could serve as an example for other manufacturers. In this regard, Segway Powersports will have been a pioneer, as will be the case with the quad and hybrid SSV to come. Another highlight of this AT6 L is the efficiency of its braking. It is powerful, durable and the quad remains perfectly in line when the brake lever is applied. Is even formidable when you use the pedal. It's even a little violent... But it's a matter of habit. It's so good to have such mastery of the machine, to feel that it responds to the slightest pull of the trigger, that it remains stable despite the uneven path, that it accepts this point of being solicited without one perceiving its limits. In difficult areas, you can drive in 4-wheel drive and take full advantage of the capacities of the front differential and its automatic locking. On this AT6 L, the rear differential is fitted as standard and allows evolutions on more natural asphalt.

It is a strength of this Snarler AT6 L to be solid on all terrains. We can't wait to see what it gives against the competition, which can be the TGB Blade 600 LTX, CFMOTO CFORCE 625 EPS, but also the Polaris Sportsman 570 Touring EPS/SP or the Can-Am Outlander Max 570 DPS/XT. Because it is clearly these last two models that the Snarler is targeting. And it is clear that it is placed on this ground, with very interesting performance, approval and equipment. At €8,690, this Snarler ATG L will clearly make some noise in this thermal version. And what about the hybrid version, which will point the end of its bumper? We do not hide from you that it is this model - and of course the sporty SSV Villain - that Ton is impatiently awaiting. We will sleep well until then, we reassure you,

THE SMARTPHONE AS REINFORCEMENT

The Snarler has a real-time connection with your smartphone via the Smart Commanding System (SCS). The Smart Moving app includes remote blocking, driving settings, emergency contact, geolocation and real-time data. Remote blocking is the possibility of controlling the quad remotely with the telephone (without being able to start it). It is thus possible to unlock it remotely. Driving settings include choice in power steering assistance and speed limit.

Geolocation makes it possible to know in real time where the machine is. This mode makes it possible to have an offline map, a wireless localization and therefore the telephone connected wirelessly. The emergency contact is the last possible resort in the event of an accident. An integrated module detects a possible rollover and therefore sends an automatic SMS with the location to a previously designated person. Finally, the application allows you to know the number of kilometers remaining in autonomy, the horsepower of the machine, the torque in real time, the EPS mode, the partial mileage and the speed curve. These are all elements that give a special appeal to driving the vehicle. This free application is compatible with los or Android smartphones.
